Julia Julep

This herbaceous julep will make you wonder why you never thought of substituting mint with basil before!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 ounce simple syrup
  • 4 fresh basil leaves, plus a sprig for garnish
  • 3/4 ounce freshly-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 ounces Jim Beam

Directions

  • In a julep cup or a single old-fashioned glass, muddle the simple syrup together with the basil leaves until fragrant. Add the lemon juice and Jim Beam and fill the glass with ice. Stir to blend and serve immediately, garnished with the sprig of basil.
