Rum Barbecue Sauce


  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup minced onions
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup lime juice
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 3 tablespoons prepared mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup dark rum


  • Heat the oil in a medium-sized saucepan. Add the onions and garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients, except the rum. Cover and simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the rum. Good on chicken, beef, and pork.
