Shrimp Butter


  • 1 (3-ounce package cream cheese), at room temperature
  • One-fourth pound (1 stick) butter, at room temperature
  • One-fourth cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon grated onion or 3 tablespoons minced green onion
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • One-fourth teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • One-fourth teaspoon salt


  • One and one-half cups cooked shrimp (Canned shrimp may be substituted, but the shrimp should be thoroughly rinsed, drained, and chilled before preparation.)
  • In the bowl of a food processor, blend together all of the ingredients except for the shrimp. Fold in the chopped shrimp by hand. Serve with crackers or crostini.
