Bishop's Cake (river Road Recipes)


  • One-half (2 sticks) pound butter, at room temperature
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups sifted cake flour


  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
  • Cream the butter and sugar in mixing bowl. Add the eggs, lemon juice, and vanilla. Beat well. Add the sifted flour. Bake in a greased and lightly floured Bundt pan for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Allow the cake to cool before removing it from the pan.
