  • 2 cups raisins
  • 2 cups dates or other dried fruit
  • Honey (as needed to hold the mixture together)
  • 2 cups nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts)


  • In a food processor, grind together the ingredients, reserving the honey. Once ground as much as possible, add the honey till moistened and sticky and press the whole mixture into a buttered cake pan and refrigerate. Cut into bars or blocks and eat as candy. In the past, this mixture included suet to help nourish winter travelers and hunters.
