Mothers Mock Cheese Souffl…

  • Yield: 6 to 8 servings


  • 6 slices white bread, crusts removed
  • One-half pound sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black or white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Coleman's dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • One-half cup melted butter


  • Layer the bread and cheese in a buttered ovenproof casserole dish. Combine the eggs, milk and seasonings and beat to blend. Pour the mixture over bread and cheese. Pour the melted butter over the top. Refrigerate overnight. Bake, uncovered, in a 400-degree oven for about 45 minutes.
