- 4 tablespoons salted butter
- 4 yellow onions (about 8 ounces each), peeled, stemmed, and cut into thin slices
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground white pepper
- Heat butter in a large saute pan over medium heat until melted. Add onions, salt, and pepper and toss to coat well. Let cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are lightly caramelized, 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside until ready to use.
