Basic Caipirinha


  • 1 medium-size lime, cut into one-half-inch chunks
  • 4 to 5 teaspoons sugar (or to taste)
  • 2 ounces cachaÁa
  • Crushed ice


  • Put the lime chunks and the sugar into a thick-walled rocks glass and crush together until the pulp and the juice of the limes are well macerated. Add cachaça and ice. Serves 1. (Multiply by number of drinkers for pitcher batches)
