Buttermilk Pancakes

  • Yield: About 1 1/2 dozen pancakes.


  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 egg, unbeaten
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter or vegetable oil


  • 5{ dry ingredients. Combine egg and buttermilk; add flour mixture and beat until batter is smooth. Add butter or oil. Pour from a pitcher or drop by the spoonful on a preheated griddle; bake until golden brown.
