Coffee Liqueur


  • One and one-half cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • One-half cup instant coffee powder
  • 3 cups vodka
  • One-half vanilla bean, split (or 2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract)


  • Combine the sugars with 2 cups of water. Boil for 5 minutes. Gradually whisk in the coffee until blended. Cool and pour into a tall bottle, adding the vodka and vanilla. Cover and let stand for at least two weeks. Remove the vanilla bean upon opening.
