Creole Tomato Glaze
The Creole Tomato Glaze gets its name mainly from its Creole origins. It is a sweet, spicy and tomato glaze used to coat the Creole Tomato Glazed Turkey Wings.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup Crystal hot sauce
- 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Creole mustard
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
Directions
In a large, heavy sauce pan combine all of the ingredients over medium low heat and bring to a simmer while stirring to dissolve the sugar.
Cook the sauce on medium low heat, stirring ocassionally until it becomes thick and syrupy, about 20 to 25 minutes. The sauce should coat the back of a spoon.
Cool the sauce and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
