Homemade Tartar Sauce

  • Yield: About 1 1/2 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 shallot, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cornichons or dill pickle
  • 1 tablespoon nonpareil capers, drained and finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped flatleaf parsley
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh tarragon or pinch of dried tarragon, crumbled between your fingers
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt, to taste

Directions

  • In a small bowl, whisk all the ingredients together. Refrigerate until ready to serve and up to several days in an airtight container.
