Vieux Carre Cocktail
This classic cocktail dates to the early part of the 20th century and has a base of rye whiskey combined with cognac, sweet vermouth, aromatic Benedictine liqueur, and two types of bitters.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounces rye whiskey
- 1 1/2 ounces cognac
- 1 1/2 ounces sweet vermouth
- 2 teaspoons Benedictine liqueur
- 3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
- 2 lemon twists, for garnish
Directions
Fill two 8-ounce old-fashioned glasses with crushed ice. Combine the remaining ingredients (except the lemon twists) in a glass and stir to combine. Divide the cocktail between the two glasses and garnish each glass with a lemon twist.
