This is Going to Be the Best Summer of Tacos Ever!
Post Author: Jenny McCoyLa Esquina (which means “The Corner” in Spanish), is a casual taqueria located just around the corner from my apartment. It’s finally getting warmer outside so their wide-open windowed counters and outdoor seating is moving diners (and the fiesta) into the street to snack on authentic tacos and tortas from early morning until wee into the late-night hours.
On my last visit, I had the tortilla soup for the first time, which was loaded with slow cooked chicken, shredded cotija cheese, fresh avocado and crispy tortilla chips, all swimming in a pool of spicy tomato broth.
I also had the carne enchilada taco which is my absolute favorite. Served over two layers of warm corn tortillas, the grilled achiote rubbed pork, fresh pineapple and salsa verde is unbelievable—especially for its $3.75 price tag. I also really like the aquacate con queso taco—avocado, queso fresco, black beans and pico de gallo for a lighter snack.
I am a HUGE fan of Mexican food–especially tacos. I think they are the perfect food and they are all I want to eat in the summer. So don’t be surprised to find several more posts about various tacos in the coming months as I search the city for my favorites!
